It's ok to feel anxious about the news

It’s okay and perfectly usual, to feel anxious about the news, you are not alone.

Feeling anxious about what you’re seeing on the news is a perfectly normal emotional response. The news at the moment is upsetting and scary for most.

How you feel right now is valid... fact!

During times of continuous or subcontious worry, it’s important that you do what you can to look after yourself.

Here are some tips good for both kids teens and adults:

1》 Talk to someone you trust

While it is normal to feel worried, if you are starting to feel overwhelmed, it’s important to acknowledge your feelings and speak to someone you trust, whether that’s a friend, a family member, a teacher or a helpline

2》 Don’t over expose yourself to the news

Do take a break from social media too if you feel like the updates are getting too much. Remember you are in control of what you see on your feed. Take breaks when you feel like things are getting too much or mute and unfollow accounts that make you feel anxious or worried.

3》 Find things that help you feel calm

Think about some activities that can help when you are feeling overwhelmed, like breathing techniques, mindful meditation, journaling to writing down how you feel, playing music or talking to a friend.

Remember it is ok and perfectly usual to feel worried or anxious about whats going on in the news.
